New year, new things.

Ahh, yes, I haven't really posted in awhile. I've been busy, primarily because of exams and working over the holidays. But, nothings really slowed down in my life in the past few months. There's a silver lining amongst the day in and day out work, one is that I am currently using my vacation time for some relaxation. I'm also using my tax return to get a new computer, a new chair, and a few dvds. The new computer is nice little laptop that I found for a good price, however it's fairly ugly in my mind, because of the coloring it has. The new chair is still up in the air, I'm looking around for something that will last as long as my past ones, usually one-two years. On the DVD's, well the Robotech sequel I spoke of in the last blog has been released and isn't to expensive. I'm also hoping to expand my collection of Stargate seasons if my money lasts that long. I know this isn't a vary deep, well thought out, or even long blog, but alittle something is better then nothing at all. Till my next one...

Nostilga, old things are new

Hola, Hello, Seasons Greetings
I've finally started this little corner of the Internet on the pleading of a good friend (Okay, it was more like nudging). A few other people in my life also were at lest interested in what is going in around me and in my head when they cant personally be around. But I digress, down to the topic at hand. Oh Nostalgia, thou hath me in ye grasp. I consider myself fairly up to date on culture, films, and shows but no matter where I look, it rears it head at me. To start off, Star Wars is playing on Cinemax currently, in High-Definition. Why should this bother me, I have the DVD's a shelf away from me, and my nephew has all the recent prequels, why must I spend the bulk of a day watching them over cable? Alas, my personal geekdom has taken over, pretty pretty Star Wars.

Another recent development in Nostalgia, however odd that sounds. Back in 1985, the year I came into this world, a great and triumphant little show came on the air, Robotech. Alas, I did not see the initial airing, as I was a infant. I caught it later in the early 90's on cable and fell in love. Although I was able to see most of it, the final section of the show was not aired due to a number of issues some of which originating with themes it showed which were not kid-friendly at the time. As time went on, it seemed I'd never see it again. However, as the great dvd craze began, the original production company re-released them and in fairly good quality. I bought them up at release, at the most expensive DVD place in the Mall. It was like 60 bucks or so then, now you can get them from the source for almost half that. Now, to the recent part, with the success of merchandising concerning Robotech and geekdom over it they've made, albeit late, a sequel to the originals. They've finally brought it to a nearby cinema during a pre-release film festival group of showings, I have to say I enjoyed it, quite near loved it. We spoke with one of directors who had a hand in the overall story and got a good set of answers on what happens next and when we'll get it on DVD. It's a big step, of many I hope.

Oh, and I soo need to get a new T.V, my old one is now turning off when I turn it on. This is because I accidentally dropped it on it's screen when I first moved to my house. It kinda dislodged part of the case and the buttons don't exactly stick out anymore. This is also probably why it tends to get static like stuff and the occasional black and white shift for no reason, the repair is, like many appliances of mine, to hit it. It works.
